The Distinguished Young Woman of LaRue County for 2019 is Malerie Skaggs, from Hodgenville.

Malerie’s achievements include: Tennis 110% Award • Tennis Most Improved Award • Tennis Academic Award • Volleyball Academic Award • Gifted and Talented • 2nd Place in JV Challenge Written Composition • Perfect Attendance Award • Accepted to McConnell Center’s Youth Leaders Academy at UofL • Kentucky Youth Salute Program • APES Program Participant

In addition, Malerie’s activities include: Community Volunteer Service Club • Y Club (Kentucky Youth Assembly) • Class Committee (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) • Prom Committee • Academic Team • Varsity Tennis • Playing Piano • Singing and playing piano at church • National Honors Society • Beta Club
Mission Trip to Tuskegee, AL. Helped with home repairs and teaching children. • Quest Camp and Cool School (2 years). Assisted teachers and helped kids learn. • Campbellsville Nursing Home. Helped with activities, sang and played piano, etc. • Larue County Board of Education. Helped prepare for upcoming school years. • Leading music at two local churches when music leaders are absent.
